Organization Overview
Friends of Gem Theater is intent on bringing the 1937 stand-alone movie theater back to life in the small, rural early mining town of Pioche, NV. Rehabilitating the venue and reopening it will allow us to bring a wealth of entertainment options to the town again. Because we have experience producing an outdoor film series in previous public parks for six years, we are well-suited to pair up with the local Chamber of Commerce and bring in the cultural series in Pioche. We have a large social media following combined with the Chamber, and are skilled in event management, production, and promotion to make the series a success for both artists performing and attendees enjoying the concerts. Between us and the Chamber of Commerce, we host the majority of public events promoting tourism in our mile-high desert mountains, and this concert series is an ideal fit for the park, visitors, and residents.

Pioche is one of the earliest mining towns in Nevada and boasts longtime legacy families brimming with pride at the town’s early heritage, still visible and honored in all we do. With standing traditions like Pioche Labor Days for over 100 years, the town’s residents embrace their founding history and welcome tourists to celebrate the State’s hearty roots. The Levitt AMP Music Series will amplify the town’s spirit and enthusiasm for arts and culture set against the gorgeous mountains of Treasure Hill and Lime Hill dotted with the colorful tailings from decades past of early mining. The series will reinvigorate use of the town park site and provide the small town with more consistent entertainment that will certainly be a regional draw to the rest of the County and beyond. The park space is a welcoming place that makes it easy for everyone to participate and feel at home.

Pioche Town Park has enjoyed more consistent programming in years past, but now with newer school sites for athletic play and other options for families to frequent, there has been less activity in the park space. The music series will bring a consistent activity space and programming for residents to look forward to as well as tourists to stay in town longer and attend the events. The activation of the central location will aid area small businesses in seeing greater foot traffic and hopefully translate to increased revenue tax generation for the area which so desperately needs it. Businesses can also get creative by offering their services and wares in the park as vendors during the series.
